Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): NYSED Certification The increase in longevity and the recent changes in the health care system have created an increased need for educated and skilled Nursing Assistants. This program gives students an excellent opportunity to acquire the necessary occupational skills required for C.N.A.s. The CNA profession is ideal for people seeking flexible hours working in nursing homes, hospitals, doctors' offices and health care facilities. The program includes anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of patient care and clinical experience in a residential health care facility. Screen reader support enabled. Pre-/Co-requisites: Basic Cardiac Life Support (AHX-100); High School Diploma or GED/HSE; and US Citizenship or Legal Working Permits. Students need to be fully vaccinated to complete clinicals. The NYS Department of Health now requires that Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) candidates take an additional online training program: the Affirming Care for Older LGBTQIA+ Individuals Training. This program is available through NYS's Department of Health's Learning Management System. After registering, students can locate the program by conducting a catalog search and typing "Affirming" in the search function. When the course is completed, the registered user will receive a confirmation certificate that should be emailed to the instructor. Clinical Medical Assistant Program Description Hybrid Program. Entry-Level Clinical Practice 2-4 Months The Clinical Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare students to function as professionals in multiple healthcare settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks including assisting with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing an EKG electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent with physician's offices, clinics, chiropractor's offices, hospitals and outpatient facilities. This program prepares learners to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office. Community English as a Second Language Whether you need to improve your English for professional, educational or personal reasons, the Community ESL Program at Queensborough Community College has the right class for you. We offer six levels from Basic Beginners to Advanced. Classes are taught by a highly experienced team of instructors eager to have you improve your English skills. Classes are held in classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In order for us to place you in the proper level, we will ask you to register, pay the tuition, and take a short placement test. Dental Assistant
The program prepares learners for entry-level positions as a chair-side dental assistant. This program covers the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, introduction to tooth structure (primary and permanent teeth), the oral cavity; and other areas. Dialysis Technician
This program provides learners the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties required of dialysis technicians. Under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses, dialysis technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, prepare dialyzer reprocessing and delivery systems, as well as maintain and repair equipment. Furthermore, technicians work with patients during dialysis procedures and monitor and record vital signs, as well as administer local anesthetics and drugs as needed. Dialysis technicians must assess patients for any complications that occur during the procedure and be ready to take the necessary emergency measures, including administering oxygen or performing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Additionally, they may also be involved in the training of patients for at-home dialysis treatment and providing the emotional support patients need for self-care.

EKG Technician Introduction to cardiac anatomy and terminology, recognition of cardiac emergencies, obtaining 12-lead ECG or EKG tracing and basic rhythm interpretation. This program covers topics and processes critical to conducting and interpreting electrocardiograms (EKGs). To begin, learners will review the anatomy and physiology of the heart. From there, learners will go on to explore the technology used such as the EKG machine. Next, participants will learn how to interpret a rhythm strip. Emergency Medical Technician Certification This course covers all techniques and operational aspects of an EMT. Emergency Room Technician An ER Tech provides technical support to MDs and RNs to optimize patient care. The ER Tech assists the MDs and RNs by performing Phlebotomy and IV stats, performing 12-lead EKGs, transporting patients to other departments, performs wound care, obtains lab specimens, documents all care/procedures provided, and performs other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: Registrants must have AHA/BLS certification current before beginning program and upon completion of program. Pharmacy Technician The need for Pharmacy Technicians continues to grow with demand expected to increase substantially through 2024. Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other healthcare settings. This high demand for pharmacy technicians is the result of a multitude of factors including the constant availability of new drugs, the national shortage of registered pharmacists, the establishment of certified pharmacy technicians, and the aging population. Approximately 400,000 technicians will be employed by the year 2024 to meet our nation's growing healthcare demands.
